14k vs 18k White Gold - Why we don't Rhodium Plate Anne Sportun pieces

14k vs 18k White Gold - Why we don't Rhodium Plate Anne Sportun pieces

Browsing through Anne Sportun pieces you will surely notice that we make our yellow gold pieces in 18k, but our white gold pieces in 14k.

If you've wondered why that is, there is a great reason!

Typically when white gold pieces are made in 18k they need a rhodium plating to achieve the "white/silver" look that people are looking for with white gold. Unfortunately that plating layer inevitably wears away over time (aprox 12-24 months), resulting in a more yellow color & tone.

Although re-plating is possible, we prefer to use our 14k white gold so that your piece will always look the same as when you bought it!

A high polish finish will increase the brightness of the white gold, whereas a matte finish will be more subtle & subdued.

Precious pieces, to be loved and worn everyday.
