CARING FOR THIS STONE: Tourmaline is rated 7.0-7.5 on the Mohs scale. It has fair to good toughness. While tourmaline is not as hard or tough as a stone like sapphire, it can still be worn with careful wear and care. Tourmaline should be worn and stored in a manner that avoids rubbing against other materials.
Exposure to high heat is not recommended. Strong heat may alter color and sudden temperature changes may cause fracturing.
Tourmaline jewelry is best cleaned with warm, sudsy water and a tightly woven microfiber or other soft cloth.
